American suspected of harassing Taylor Swift |
Wednesday's concert is one of three that the singer is holding in the German city of Gelsenkirchen as part of her successful Eras Tour. The event attracted 60,000 fans, known unofficially as "Swifties", who sang, danced and celebrated in costume, according to police.
Man arrested by German police
The German police detained an American suspected of harassing Taylor Swift and threatening the singer and her partner on social networks. The man was arrested while trying to enter the pop star's concert in the German city of Gelsenkirchen (west), the law enforcement stated on Thursday
He was present in the Veltins-Arena, the stadium where the concert was held. “The man has been identified. He was taken into custody during entry control before the concert for which he had a ticket,” the police said, indicating that the artist and the spectators were never in danger. 60,000 people attended the first of three Taylor Swift concerts in Gelsenkirchen.
Justice prefers to keep this American suspected of harassing Taylor Swift
in his cell until Saturday July 20, 2024 to “avoid any danger,” the police in Gelsenkirchen, in western Germany, said in a press release. The man has, on multiple occasions, written “threats against Taylor Swift and her companion”, American football player Travis Kelce, on social networks.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the singer has been threatened with death. Indeed, for two years a certain Eric Swarbrick, recognized as mentally unbalanced, attacked the singer several times.
This 26-year-old young man then regularly sent letters to the singer. And their content was chilling. He then indicated that he wanted to rape her because he considered her his soul mate. Then the artist received death threats: “I will not hesitate to kill her… and there is nothing that you, your lawyers, or the law can do about it. Remember who I am.”
Very alarming comments that the police took seriously. Security measures around Taylor Swift have thus been reinforced. And it is clear that it was effective in Germany. Singing stars regularly receive insulting and threatening letters. A very alarming situation.
