double album sparkled rumors |
A few days ago, Billie Eilish made comments about how some artists were engaging in the "unnecessary" practice of releasing multiple vinyl variants of their double album. Some thought Eilish's criticism was aimed at Taylor Swift, but now Eilish is setting the record straight.
Last night (March 31), Eilish wrote in an Instagram Story post: "Okay, it would be so awesome if people stopped putting words in my mouth and actually read what I said in this article on notice board. I wasn't targeting anyone, these are systemic, industry-wide issues. And when it comes to variations, many artists are releasing them – including ME! what I clearly say in the article. the climate crisis is happening now and it's about all of us being part of the problem and trying to do better, shesh.
As for what Eilish actually said in the Billboard interview published on March 28, here are few lines:
Eilish says she lives in a time where, for whatever reason, it's very important for certain artists to make all kinds of different vinyls and packaging... which increases sales and numbers and makes them more money and brings them more...
Of course, that counts for No. 1 albums. It is just a small and innocent hint related to Hit Me Hard and Soft and The Tortured Poets Department
Eilish can’t even express to you how wasteful this is. It's right in front of hes eyes and people are getting away with it left and right, and she find it really frustrating as someone who's really doing everything possible to be sustainable and do the best they can and try to involve everything the world. on her team to be sustainable – and then it's some of the biggest artists in the world creating 40 different fucking vinyl packs that have one unique thing, just to entice you to keep buying more. It's so wasteful, and it's irritating to her that we're still at a point where you care so much about your numbers and making money - and it's all your favorite artists doing this shit .
