Taylor Swift appeal: understanding or intuition ?

Understanding the appeal of pop star Taylor Swift

As fan of pop culture, I read today that Taylor Swift is releasing another album. This woman is undoubtedly a workhorse, one of the most ambitious artists working today.

She has enjoyed astronomical success in her (short) life thus far. I read something about her that always impressed me, how she planned to walk away from her first recording contract because the label wanted her to become a special artist, which she didn't want to be. My point: she believed a lot in her talent. She was willing to take a big risk because her instincts, or just her super healthy self-esteem, told her not to be afraid.

I love hearing this story. I think it's extremely inspiring and reminds me that Taylor Swift is probably an extremely talented person. Although I have never interviewed or rated her, she seems talented not only musically, but also with her boundless energy and motivation, and her ability to remain seemingly positive and optimistic in an industry that can devour its young people.

Why do you need to intuit Tylor Swift appeal?

Taylor Swift is easy for some to intuit because I feel she is a woman who had a father who continually supported this young woman as she grew up. When you see someone excel in Swift's cohesive, organized way, there's no other way to explain her persistence and psychological resilience - this is a girl who had an authority figure who relentlessly supported in his past. I have no doubt that someone was there every step of the way for her, imitating her, saying, "Yes, you're good." We should all be so lucky.

Where I have a problem with Taylor is with her music: the insistence on singing almost nothing but unrequited romantic love, as if she, and the audience she sings for, were caught in a high school dance, invisible but desperate. make the boy like me. It's no surprise that one of his biggest hits is "Romeo and Juliet," as the notion of impossible love permeates much of his music. For all her talent, intelligence, and common sense, I find her surprisingly naive, or just caught up in her development, when it comes to romantic love.

Grammy Awards: Miley Cyrus sensational with a sparkling dress and No Underwear

Before Miley Cyrus performed her hit Flowers at the Grammys earlier this week, Bob Mackie and his artistic director of more than 20 years, Joe McFate, were treated to a private performance. During a fitting, the star performed the choreography of her song in front of them to see if the famous sparkling dress adapted to all her movements. “She did the whole act for us,” says Joe McFate. “It was a riot!”

Miley Cyrus' shimmering outfit ended up being one of the most talked about fashion moments of the Grammys. A great admirer of Bob Mackie's creations, the singer asked the designer, through her stylist Bradley Kenneth, if she could wear a garment from his archives on the evening of the event. “She’s borrowed a few outfits from me in the past, including for her New Year’s Eve concert with Dolly Parton last year,” says Bob Mackie. “I love seeing her wear my creations, because she loves to perform and show off. You know she loves every minute of it.

Bob Mackie talks to us about the vintage dress worn by Miley Cyrus at the Grammys

The dress the star wore, with its floaty hem and midriff cutout, was from Bob Mackie's 2002 collection, titled To Broadway With Love. “It was a fashion collection inspired by Broadway musicals,” says the designer. “Miley's dress was an homage to the 'Big Spender' sequence from Sweet Charity. There were these three girls in sexy little fringed dresses.” Seeing Miley Cyrus' choreography, Bob Mackie knew the dress was perfect for her. “She’s there to entertain,” he explains. “And God knows a little sparkle goes a long way,” adds Joe McFate.
